Parweld Collaborates With LC Lasers: A New Era For Precision Engineering

Parweld Ltd and LC Lasers are delighted to announce a new strategic distribution partnership.

We officially unveiled this collaboration at our January Open Week (20th – 23rd January 2026). Which featured talks and live demonstrations of the LC Laser Welding Machines and LC Laser Cleaning Units.

Under this new agreement, Parweld becomes the dedicated distributor for LC Laser Systems across the UK and Irish markets, combining LC’s innovative technology with Parweld’s renowned industry expertise and support.

What is a Laser?
The term LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Lasers are devices that produce a very special form of light, very dense in energy. A whole range of lasers exist and are used in different sectors as industry, surgery, telecommunications, construction, etc. Closer to home, they are utilised in supermarket shop scanners, reading digital data from optical discs in CD players and DVD players, etc.

The light generated by a laser is concentrated and directed in a beam, unlike a light bulb that is projected in all directions. Laser light has three characteristics that differentiate it from “ordinary” light. It is:

  • Monochromatic (a single colour that varies according to the type of laser)
  • Directional (the beams are parallel and can travel long distances with very little divergence)
  • Coherent (the waves are in phase, i.e. they are synchronised in time and space)

These characteristics allow a high concentration of energy on a very small surface.

Laser Welding

Laser welding is a sophisticated fusion technique that swaps out the blunt force of an electric arc for the pinpoint accuracy of a concentrated light beam. By focusing high-energy photons onto a specific spot, it seamlessly melts and bonds metals or thermoplastics with incredible speed.

Key Features:

  • Minimal Heat Affect: Unlike conventional arc welding, which tends to spread heat across the workpiece (often leading to warping), the laser keeps things “cool” and contained.

  • The “Keyhole” Effect: It produces a characteristically narrow and deep weld, ensuring structural integrity without the mess.

  • Engineering Integrity: Because there’s so little thermal distortion, the final component stays true to its original dimensions—vital for high-spec aerospace or automotive projects.

LC-Weld Systems

LC Lasers employ high-precision, versatile, and efficient laser technology, ideal for various industrial and technological sectors. Its non-contact nature enhances productivity, reduces maintenance, and prevents hazardous or chemical residues. This allows for process optimisation, improving quality and efficiency compared to traditional methods.

Laser welding is an advanced and modern method to join materials with precision and durability. It uses a laser beam to melt and recrystallise the surface, allowing welding with or without additional material through an automatic wire-feeding system.

It stands out for its speed, process optimisation, and cost reduction. Its advantages include low smoke generation, precise welds without marks or discoloration, and minimal material deformation. Additionally, it requires no rework and minimises the use of consumables.

Our machines are easy to use, with interchangeable nozzles and an intuitive control system, ensuring optimal results even for inexperienced operators.

Laser Cleaning

Laser cleaning uses a high-intensity laser beam to vaporise contaminants—like rust, paint, oil, or oxides—without ever touching the underlying material. Through a process called ablation, the laser pulses hit the surface layer so quickly that the dirt evaporates into the air, leaving the metal or stone completely unharmed.

Key features:

  • No Mess, No Fuss: Forget grit-blasting or chemical baths. There are no secondary waste streams like dirty water or spent sand to dispose of—just the microscopic dust of the contaminant.
  • Non-Contact Precision: Because the laser is “tuned” to only react with the grime, there’s zero risk of wearing down or scratching the delicate part underneath.
  • Eco-Friendly Engineering: No harsh solvents or acids are required, making it a favourite for UK firms looking to hit sustainability targets.
